PowerFlasher FDT — the legendary IDE for ActionScript 3, Haxe, Flash & HTML5 Canvas. Debugger, profiler, refactoring and templates that made a generation of creative developers insanely productive. Now reborn for preservation, education and interactive art.

PowerFlasher GmbH from Hamburg built FDT — Flash Development Tool: Eclipse-based IDE loved by agencies, game studios and motion coders. If you shipped banners, portals, multiplayer games or RIAs in 2005-2015, you probably used us.

PowerFlasher started as a small team obsessed with developer speed. While Adobe Flash IDE was timeline-oriented, FDT was code-first: true auto-complete, one-click refactoring, live errors, ANT automation and blazing compiler hooks. Later we added Haxe, HTML5, AIR for iOS/Android and Starling/Feathers workflows.
Preserve 20 years of interactive web culture and give students a fast, distraction-free AS3/Haxe playground.
powerflasher.info is an independent archive + lab: tutorials, decompilation ethics, Ruffle emulation, AIR revival.
First real refactoring + code templates for ActionScript 2. Agencies switch overnight.
Profiler, debugger, SWC workflow. Used for Club Penguin-style worlds and viral games.
One codebase to Flash, iOS, Android and HTML5. Peak community: 120k licenses.
We document everything, emulate classics and teach creative coding anew.
Not nostalgia — pure productivity. Features that VS Code extensions still copy in 2026.
Incremental compilation, conditional build configs, ANT + Maven hooks. 40k-line projects rebuilt in under a second.
Context-aware autocomplete, import organizer, mark occurrences, quick fixes. It understood your SWCs better than you.
Breakpoints, conditional watches, memory snapshots, draw-call stats. Find leaks in Starling games in minutes.
Rename, extract method, move class, convert to Haxe. 12 refactorings with preview and undo across workspace.
200+ live templates: game loops, sprite sheets, robotlegs, Starling scenes. Type “fori” + Tab = magic.
Deploy to Flash Player, AIR desktop/mobile, HTML5 Canvas and OpenFL. One IDE, all retro-future platforms.

No more “compile to see typo”. FDT underlined null-safety, type mismatches and missing imports instantly.

Attach sources to any SWC, inspect bytecode, auto-generate docs. TLF text never broke again.

Apple blocked it, Adobe ended Player in 2020. But 20 years of games, cartoons, e-learning and art didn’t disappear. With Ruffle emulator, Flashpoint Archive and AIR SDK you can still run, study and remix classics — legally and safely. We teach how.
A tiny slice of genres FDT powered — from multiplayer worlds to interactive infographics.
60fps, 500 enemies, object pooling. Profiler kept memory flat at 28MB.
Custom FLV player, ads, analytics. ANT built 5 locales in 12 seconds.
SCORM quizzes, drag-drop, TTS. Templates cut dev time by 40%.
SmartFox + FDT debugger: step through server + client in one IDE.
